When I began Coley's Cakes & Confections (way back at the beginning of this year), it was really to serve a purpose: earn extra money to help pay for medical bills after my REALLY BAD car accident. Baking is something that I have always been good at and something I enjoy. But I healed from the accident and praise the Lord for medical insurance that covered the bulk of my costs. So here is this for that...
I am still really good at baking and still really enjoy it, but I wanted my baking and business efforts to have a purpose (aside from the obvious...baking cakes). That is where the idea of "Sweets with a Soul" came from.
Personally, I believe EVERYONE has a soul. Whether it is sweet or not is another story for another time...
I know a good many small business owners who use their talents or business profits to help other people. Whether it is via missions (local and global), donating time and resources to a shelter, helping kids with special needs...I know y'all are out there and I want each month to highlight these businesses and their efforts to make the world a little sweeter.
My intention is to reach out to as many of my friends that I know have small businesses that are giving back, but if you know a small business that gives back to their community and ultimately the world at large and you feel that they should be recognized for their efforts and possibly gain them some attention, new clients, recognition, and a pat on the back, please let me know! So, lets make things sweeter for small business owners and the charity, group, mission, or organization they support. Some on folks...you know you want to bake a virtual cake with me for the world! There is an Irish saying I think is very applicable to this post, "Good food is all the sweeter, when shared with good friends!"
